About Nassau County Bat Removal

Welcome to nassaucountybat.com. We are the only qualified bat removal company in Nassau County, New York. There's nothing cool about having a wildlife infestation problem. However, a bat infestation problem is on a whole new level of inconvenience. In just a few months, a colony of ten bats can grow into hundreds. Aside from the scratching, flapping, and subtle clicking sounds that might be of constant disturbance to you, the quick accumulation of their droppings (guano) will soil your insulation and expose you and your family to health risks. This was the plight of our founders some 30 years ago. Getting a company to handle their problem was stressful because the nearest wildlife company was over 40 miles away. That was when they decided to establish this company. Yes, we are a family-run business, and our mission has been to help homeowners and business owners handle their bat infestation problems so they won't go through the hassles we went through. And quite frankly, we've been doing a great job at that! There are about 47 species of bats in the United States with different sizes and even behaviors. That's why a deep understanding of bat behavior is needed to handle a bat infestation problem. Our three decades of experience have exposed us to a wide variety of infestation problems and that has equipped us. No matter what your infestation problem is like, you can be assured that we have worked on something similar before. Our services include bat inspection, bat exclusion, bat prevention, and repairs and decontamination of infected spaces. As a fully licensed company, we only adopt humane removal tactics. We will get rid of the bats in your house without harming a single one! We also provide our clients with a warranty so you can be assured of our solution. Give us a call today so we can help you resolve your bat infestation. We operate 24-7-365, so don't hesitate to call us at 518-738-1725 to discuss your bat problem and schedule a fast appointment.

Residential

We are experts at removing bats from residential properties. Whether you have a single bat trapped in your house, a colony roosting in your attic, and/or various other problems, there is no need to worry! During our removal process, we make sure to inspect your entire home carefully, tracking down all the entrypoints bats are using to invade your place. Next, we perform a process called live exclusion (where no bats are harmed and all exit your property), then seal all entry holes completely shut. We also take care of the cleanup process after, so your home is safe and clean!

Commercial

Besides residential areas, we also have a wealth of experience removing bats from commercial properties! We begin by investigating the area for possible bat entrances, covering holes even as small as 1/4 of an inch. Through our live exclusion process, bats leave the building through one-way exits, and we seal up every hole afterward. Once the bats have been removed, we perform a cleanup process. This includes dealing with guano, replacing damaged insulation, and decontaminating the place.

What Our Customers Say

What Is A Bat Maternity Colony?

Bats typically live and roost in large groups called colonies. They take up residence in warm dark places that can provide adequate protection. Bats love to roost in old abandoned mines, gaps in rocks and even buildings.

Bats do hibernate up to six months out of the year, typically in the winter time. They huddle close together as they sleep for up to six months out of the year. It helps keep them warm.

Bats will mate in the summer when the time is right. In fact, they have a summer maternity season which typically begins as early as the middle of April and runs through August. Female bats undergo changes during the summer maternity season.

After Mating

Since bats live in groups, they are largely dependent on one another. The females all get pregnant around the same time and they will break away from their original group to form a maternity colony. A bat maternity colony usually consists of about forty pregnant female bats.

This entire maternity colony will instinctively relocate in search of a warm safe place to give birth to their young. Incredibly, the entire colony will all give birth at about the same time. They continue to stay close together to keep warm and protect their young.

Bats are mammals and they give birth to a single pup at a time. The pups will nurse from their mother in the beginning of their vulnerable development. It will be months before they are able to fly. By the end of the summer maternity season, the size of the bat maternity colony doubles in size.

Babies

Bats are instinctively protective and attentive mothers. They stay with their young relentlessly in the beginning. This is to feed the constant need for food and warmth. As the babies grow, the mother will begin leaving the roost at night in search of food. The babies can't fly, so they stay behind until the mother returns.

Bats are an important part of our delicate ecosystem. Therefore, they are protected by law. It is illegal to specifically remove a maternity colony or place an exclusion device that separates the mothers from their young. It is an offense that is punishable by law.

By the end of the summer maternity season in August, the pups will be ready to fly. Eventually, the entire colony will relocate together. Homeowners must tolerate the presence of a summer maternity colony until they decide to do so. Only then, can the extensive clean up and repair process begin for the homeowner.
